Data from 20 peatlands in eastern Canada, the UK, and southern Patagonia, alongside multi-year data from an undisturbed peatland in eastern Canada, were used to quantify how climate and terrain features influence the production, delivery, and processing of carbon (C), nitrogen (N), and phosphorus (P) within peatland pools. Distinct parts of the pool biogeochemistry's variability across sites were attributable to climate (24%) and terrain (13%), influencing the spatial variation in dissolved organic carbon (DOC) concentration and the degree of aromaticity. Across the multiple years of data collection, the concentration of DOC, carbon dioxide (CO2), total nitrogen, and DOC aromaticity reached their highest levels in the shallowest pools and at the end of the growing seasons, gradually increasing from 2016 to 2021, in tandem with concurrent increases in summer precipitation, previous fall mean air temperatures, and the number of extreme summer heat days. These case studies, drawn from three NINR-funded trials (one completed, two active), aim to showcase the application of DNP-PhD partnerships to physical activity interventions for women with elevated risks of cardiovascular disease. Three physical activity intervention trials involving women demonstrated DNP-PhD collaborations, which we categorized by the four research team phases: development, conceptualization, implementation, and translation. In each of the three trials, DNP and PhD students collaboratively and iteratively contributed to all aspects of the research process. An expansion of DNP-PhD collaboration within behavioral trials, a focus of future work, will contribute to the development of more contemporary and adapted iterative models for these partnerships.
